Backer Board Anchors and Washers

The mechanical fixing layer. Anchors sized to the board for concrete and brick, washers that spread the load so screws never pull through the foam core. Bulk supply, OEM packaging.
| Anchor lengths: | 50 / 80 / 110 mm (by board thickness) |
| Drill bit: | 8 mm |
| Washer: | Stainless steel, countersunk |

Overview
A backer board fails from the fixing outward more often than from the board inward. The core of this system tests at 361 kPa of compressive strength — but a screw head is eight millimetres of concentrated load sitting on foam. Left alone, it crushes the core, the board works loose, and two winters later the crack shows up in the grout. The washer exists to make that impossible: a stainless steel disc that spreads the point load across a wide ring, with a recessed head that sits flush below the coated surface so nothing telegraphs through the tile.

Anchors come in three lengths — 50, 80 and 110 mm — matched to board thickness so the embedment in the substrate stays deep regardless of which board is on the wall. They are built for concrete and masonry: drill an 8 mm hole straight through board and substrate, drive the anchor home, and the job is done in one visit. The anchor body resists corrosion, acid and alkali, and the temperature swings of an unheated construction site, so the fixing you bury today behaves the same in year ten.

Count your order like a contractor, not like a shopper: at 300 mm spacing, a single 1,220 × 2,440 mm sheet typically consumes 25 to 35 fixings depending on openings and corners. We supply in bulk cartons and can label for your market — ask for OEM packaging when you request samples.
Where they do not belong: steel or timber stud walls. There the fixing is a self-tapping screw, not an anchor — see the screws page. And never treat an anchor fixing as structural: it holds board to wall, not wall to building.
Applications
Board fixing to concrete and masonry walls
Garage, basement and utility room board work
Stairwells and cores in commercial retrofits
Factory floors and other solid substrates
Fixing
Mark your lines at 300 mm spacing, drill 8 mm through board and substrate, drive the anchor until the washer seats slightly recessed below the board surface, then treat every joint with self-adhesive mesh tape bedded into waterproof sealant. The full sequence is in our installation guide — free with a sample request.
Complete the System
One material system, one fixing pattern — these usually ship together.
